As part of our on-going commitment to enhancing the member experience, as well as providing additional choices that fit your lifestyle, BlueOx Credit Union is excited to announce a new, easy-to-use banking technology coming June 1*, beginning with our Battle Creek Branch. Interactive Teller Machines (ITMs) or iTellers are innovative and interactive “I do my own banking” ATM machines with a personal touch. They provide face-to-face assistance from a knowledgeable iTeller specialist using live video chat technology – all the convenience of an ATM with the personal service of a live teller PLUS more convenience and functionality! Picture an ATM that comes to life, much like Skype, FaceTime or Zoom.

what is iTeller?
Think of iTeller as video chatting real-time with your favorite BlueOx teller. An Interactive Teller Machine (ITM) combines the convenience of an ATM with the personal service and expertise that you’ve come to expect at BlueOx Credit Union. They allow you to connect with a live teller to assist you with any of the financial transactions that you’re used to performing through the drive-thru or a traditional branch setting, right through the machine. You can also opt to do your own banking and use iTeller as an ATM to complete your banking needs.
how does iTeller work?
After driving up to a machine, simply touch the screen to get started. If assistance is requested, one of our tellers appears on-screen as a video conference, much like Skype, FaceTime or Zoom. The machine uses a built-in camera and speakers to provide the member and the teller with the ability to hear and see each other during the transaction. After that, your teller assists you with the same transactions you usually do, PLUS more. Or, you can choose to use the ATM without assistance to withdraw cash, make deposits or cash a check without an envelope. It’s that easy!
where are the iTellers located?
We’re adopting this interactive technology in a phased approach, beginning June 1* in our Battle Creek Branch drive-thru. As we continue to launch and add more locations for this innovative banking technology, we will provide further updates and communications.
where are the Credit Union iTeller specialists located?
Our iTeller specialists work remotely from a centralized location.
why is BlueOx Credit Union using iTellers?
iTellers allow us to serve you more efficiently, safely and with less vulnerability. Our iTellers bring personalized service to the convenience of an ATM. It has always been our goal to be as connected with our members as we can and to offer the latest in innovative financial technology. We are proud to offer this convenient new banking option to our members.
do you still have drive-thru services?
Once all of our iTellers are installed, most typical drive-thru transactions will be completed with the iTeller machines. A few exceptions, such as cashier checks, money orders and statement printing will be taken care of in the lobby.
what types of transactions will still be done in the branch lobby?
Withdrawals over $2,500, deposits in excess of 50 bills and 50 checks, opening an account of any type, credit card advances, rolled coin, foreign currency exchange, cashier’s checks, money orders, printed copies of account details or statements and non-member check cashing.
are the iTeller ITMs the same as ATMs?
The iTeller offers you an enhanced ATM experience and the ability to perform everyday teller transactions with a real person (upon request) via two-way video and built-in speakers, just as you would with any teller, through the comfort of your car. When selecting the iTeller option, you’ll connect with one of our BlueOx iTeller specialists, who will guide you through your transaction. All of our smart machines also work just like a normal ATM, if a simple cash withdrawal, deposit or balance inquiry is all you need.
what transactions can be conducted with the iTeller?
Most teller transactions can be done with iTeller, including cash and check deposits, withdrawals, transfers, loan payments, balance inquiries and check cashing.
what does the iTeller allow me to do that the ATM did not?
You can discuss your account with the video teller, cash a check and receive your cash dispensed how you prefer.
can i request certain denominations of bills for my cash withdrawal?
Yes. It will automatically dispense the fewest amount of bills possible; however, if you request certain bills, the teller can change the number of each denomination being dispensed.
can iTeller machines handle coins?
No. If you would like to deposit or receive coins, we ask that you stop inside one of our branches.
can i get a receipt?
Absolutely. Plus, all iTeller receipts offer the image of any check deposits on the back of the receipt.
what are the benefits of using iTeller?
iTellers help us provide you with more convenient and efficient service. They are faster than walking into the branch to wait for a teller, should you be short on time. They also allow for social distancing – There’s no person-to-person contact as it’s all done completely digitally through video, which allows you to stay safe.
are iTellers replacing BlueOx Credit Union employees?
No, in fact, with the adoption of these machines, we’ve added new positions and opportunities for our team. When you use iTeller, you are served by one of our BlueOx Credit Union tellers upon request. They work remotely from a centralized location, but you can see and talk to them onscreen just as you would in-person. And there are still branch advisors on the floor, ready to assist you when needed for other services, such as opening new accounts or applying for loans. 24/7 Digital Banking is also always an option to do your banking from the comfort of home or while on the go.
will the same teller handle my transaction? can i choose my teller?
You may not always be assisted by the same teller. Instead, the next available interactive teller will be able to assist you. This helps to shorten wait times so you can get your transactions done and get on with your day!
do i need to show my ID?
Just like in a branch or the drive-thru, a valid form of identification is required to conduct certain transactions. You will be asked to scan your ID for proper identification. If you have forgotten your ID, simply touch the screen to speak with a BlueOx iTeller specialist, who will provide other options for verifying your identity. If you need a simple ATM transaction, just swipe your card to begin as usual.
are transactions at the iTeller private and secure?
Our ITMs provide options for additional privacy. They all have a chat feature available – similar to text messaging – or you can use your own headphones. They are as secure as if you were doing a teller transaction in one of our branches or the drive-thru. Just like in a branch, we may require photo identification. For security purposes, all transactions are recorded.
how soon will my deposit be made available when using iTeller?
All cash deposits made though iTeller will be made available immediately. All check deposits made through iTeller are processed using the same Funds Availability Policy as they would be with a traditional teller in a branch or the drive-thru.
do i have to use the video banking function?
No, you do not. You can continue to use the iTeller as you would use an ATM. Simply use your card like you have always done when making an ATM transaction. If you prefer your business to be more discreet, you can also use the on-screen text messaging function.
are the interactive tellers multilingual?
Yes, you can choose your preferred language – English or Spanish – prior to starting your iTeller session.
if i’m hearing impaired, will i be able to use the iTeller?
Of course! You have the ability to plug in your own headphones, plus there’s a chat feature you may use to communicate with the machine directly as well.
what are the hours of operation for the iTeller?
Monday through Thursday – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Friday – 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Traditional ATM functionality, as well as the ability to make deposits and cash checks is available 24/7/365.
